Celebrating Father’s Day at Planet Hollywood
We love special occasions and we view them as a great opportunity to enjoy a family day out and spend precious quality time together.
Our family has recently got bigger so we wanted somewhere special to celebrate hubby’s first Father’s Day as a father of two. As you may have seen in our social media channels, we went to Planet Hollywood and the whole family had such a wonderful time.
As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by the friendly staff and taken to our table, just by the Die Hard memorabilia. While we enjoyed our meal, we could admire the firefighter jacket Bruce Willis wore in the 1990 Die Hard 2 and the costume he wore in the 1995 Die Hard with a vengeance movie. We were also close to the prop plasma gun Arnold Schwarzenegger used in the 1991 Terminator 2 Judgement Day.
To celebrate the special occasion, little man tried The Pink Panther non-alcoholic cocktail, with apple juice, lime juice and raspberry puree, topped with lemonade. I tried Mango Bay cocktail with ice cold Finlandia mango vodka, mango puree, cointreau, coconut syrup, lemon and apple juice.
Hubby ordered Iron Man, with bacardi carta blanca, malibu, bacardi oakheart and bacardi carta negra, mixed with pineapple juice and lemonade. We all loved our drinks, they were deliciously refreshing.
We couldn’t decide which starter to order so we picked a sharing platter. The VIP platter features Planet Hollywood’s favourite appetisers: corn tortilla chips with five cheese dip, buffalo wings, potato skin, Texas tostados and chicken crunch. Each item was deliciously seasoned and we were delighted with our choice!
For our main course, we were spoiled by choice. There is a wide selection of burgers, steaks, grills and fish to choose from. Planet Hollywood burgers are made from high quality beef, dry-aged, grass-fed, British beef from Donald Russell, Royal Warrant holding butcher.
Hubby is a big fan of burgers, so he went for Mac Attack burger, Planet Hollywood burger topped with hickory smoked bacon, five cheese mac n cheese, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle and crispy onion straws. The burger was served in a freshly baked brioche bun with a trio of assorted fries.
The burger was full of flavour and hubby was very happy with it. He said he would definitely order it again as he enjoyed it so much!
Although I love fish, I don’t have it often at home, so I ordered a lovely Teriyaki grilled salmon as a main course. The fresh salmon filled glazed with teriyaki sauce was cooked to perfection. It was served with sautee vegetables and white rice – a wonderful combination.
The kids’ meal deal was just as good as the main menu. Children under 12 can order from a choice of main courses, including penne pasta, spaghetti and meatballs, grilled chicken breast, cheeseburger, hot dog, chicken crunch, fish goujons and mac & cheese.
The kids’ main course is followed by ice cream and includes unlimited soda, or one still water or orange juice, all for only £9.50. As dad was having a burger, little man also ordered a cheeseburger, served with fries. He really enjoyed his meal!
After our meal, we couldn’t resist the dessert menu. There are so many sweet treats to choose from: strawberry cheesecake, toblerone cheesecake, double chocolate chip brownie, white chocolate bread pudding, sticky toffee pudding, a selection of ice cream and sorbets!
Little man had the kids’ sundae topped with chocolate sauce, whipped cream, wafer and cherry. I had to try the key lime pie star jar as it sounded refreshing and just what I needed after such a delicious meal. The homemade lime cheesecake layered with crushed biscuits and whipped cream did not disappoint – it was simply delicious!
Planet Hollywood has launched Super Nova Shakes which look absolutely irresistible. As it was Father’s Day and hubby loves chocolate, he picked the Chocolate Comet and was very impressed with it. The chocolate milkshake had a selection of chocolate, double chocolate brownie frosting, candy, chocolate peanut butter cups, brownies and a chocolate straw. He was in chocolate heaven!
Overall, we have thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Planet Hollywood. The staff was friendly and helpful when asked for suggestions of which dishes to order, while the memorabilia around us made our visit even more special. Hubby’s first Father’s Day as a father of two was definitely special and memorable. He loved the whole experience and was surprised by his Father’s Day message on the big screens around the room. Such a lovely personal touch!
During our visit, we noticed that Planet Hollywood hosts a selection of special events throughout the year. On Father’s Day, dads could get a free pint of Foster’s or Murphy’s with any steak. The next event would be Halloween, a Spooktacular family event with fancy dress prizes and free face painting from 2pm to 7pm on Saturday 27th October. You can also celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas at Planet Hollywood.
We visited Planet Hollywood for review purposes, however the opinions expressed in this post are honest and my own.
