Beautiful Baby’s Christening Cake by Olivia’s Cakes

I can’t believe how quickly our baby boy is growing up. It seems it was yesterday when we brought our bundle of joy home from hospital.

In a blink, it was time to start preparing for his christening. As little man’s christening was nearly a decade ago, a lot has changed since then. Although we liked his cake, we wanted to try something different. We had a look around and were delighted with Olivia’s Cakes masterpieces, including novelty cakes, birthday cakes and christening cakes.

When we contacted Olivia’s Cakes, we knew we wanted a layered cake, with lemon, chocolate and vanilla flavours. However we had no idea which design to go for. We wanted a blue and white cake which represented the day that our baby became a Christian.

Luckily, Olivia’s Cakes are very experienced in creating bespoke cakes and, after chatting about our ideas, and what we wanted to be included in the design, we left it up to them to work their magic and surprise us.

I must confess I was slightly apprehensive on the day of the christening, as I had no idea what the cake would look like. What if we didn’t like it?

After looking at the beautifully designed cakes on their website and Instagram page, I knew they were more than capable of creating an amazing christening cake and couldn’t wait to see what they came up with.

Once we arrived at the hall, we were delighted with the result. The christening cake was even nicer than we expected. It was personalised to suit our needs and it certainly captured what we discussed the team at Olivia’s Cakes.

When it was time to cut the cake, I wanted to look at it for a little longer as the bespoke design was too pretty to be destroyed. The flavours did not disappoint, the cake was moist and soft. The top layer was lemon flavoured, while the middle was chocolate sponge with chocolate buttercream and the bottom layer was vanilla sponge with mascarpone and strawberry.

Our guests really enjoyed the cake and it was all gone by the time we tried to take a picture of the inside of it. We will have to order again just to capture what each piece looks like. I can tell you it was full of flavour and delicious!
