Top Tips on How to Stay Healthy this Summer

I can’t believe we are half way through Spring. Before we know it, the children will be off school and we will be packing our suitcases. I was recently commissioned by Simply Swim to give my thoughts on how we are going to stay healthy this summer.

Stay Active Together

Whether you prefer long walks in the countryside or a splash in the pool, it all counts towards keeping fit and active. It’s all about finding an activity that the whole family enjoys doing, so it is not a chore. As they say, time flies when you are having fun!

Aqua aerobics is one of our favourite activities as it keeps us refreshed and tanned, while working out and staying healthy. The whole family usually gets involved and we have lots of fun joining in the moves. By the time we realise, the lesson has finished, we have all enjoyed ourselves and exercised at the same time. It’s a win-win situation!

Learn a New Sport

Summer is the perfect time to learn a new sport as the days are longer and the weather is better. It’s amazing how quickly little ones learn new skills, whether it is football, swimming or tennis.

A few summers ago, we signed up little man for his first swimming lesson as we noticed during our holiday that he was getting scared of being in the water. One minute he was learning how to kick his legs, then the next he was earning his 100 metres certificate and badge. He still goes to his swimming lessons and is improving every day!

Relax and Unwind

Sometimes we forget the importance of unwinding and relaxing as part of staying healthy. It is essential that we put our feet up, listen to the birds, watch the leaves moving in the trees and take a moment to appreciate what is around us.
