Top Tips for Family Holidays in France
We have travelled France several times and each time we had an unforgettable family holiday. Our last visit was to surprise little man on his 8th birthday. He had no idea where we were going to and was over the moon when he woke up in France on his special day.
Our top tips for a great family holiday in France are:
Plan how to get there
Our trips to France have been by plane, car and coach. Little man was two months old when he flew to Lyon for the first time and we would definitely recommend going by plane if your children are under 4 years old. For school-aged children, they would be able to keep themselves entertained watching movies in the car or coach. Our top tip would be to stock up on snacks, drinks, magazines and movies for the journey, which lasts between 5 to 9 hours.
Disneyland Paris
Every child will be delighted with getting face to face with their favourite characters at Disneyland in one of the several Meet & Greet places spread around the park. At the time of our visit, little man was rehearsing the part of the Genie in Aladdin so he was over the moon when he spotted the Genie and took a picture with him. It has definitely inspired his performance in the play.
Our top tip is to arrive at Disneyland before the doors open so you can be one of the first to get in the park and make the most of your day out. As our trip was planned last minute, we could only stay at the park for one day, but we would have loved to go back for another day. There are lots of rides that we would have enjoyed but we did not get the opportunity to try.
Sightseeing in Paris
Paris is one of our favourite cities and we must visit the main tourist attractions whenever we go. It is lovely looking back at the pictures and comparing how much little man has grown and changed since our previous visit.
When in Paris, our top tip would be to plan your day out in advance so you can squeeze in as much sightseeing as possible in one day. We all loved visiting the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Champs-Elysees and Louvre Museum.
