How Do You Check the Temperature of your Food?

I love cooking and I love kitchen gadgets, but believe it or not, I don’t have a thermometer to check my food. I am trying to think why I don’t have any digital meters in my kitchen and I can only think that I actually use hubby as my very own thermometer – with all respect, of course!

I might have to explain myself and it didn’t sound quite right. While I am cooking, I usually ask hubby to come to the kitchen and check for me whether our roast is cooked or not. I know it is not ideal as I end up interrupting him from watching football on Sundays and it feels like I’m always depending on him. He says he doesn’t mind, but I would prefer to be more independent with some cool digital food meters.

Roast Chicken

Cooking a roast chicken would be much easier if I had a meat thermometer with a pointed and stainless steel stem. They don’t have to be fancy and I just found one for under a fiver, I would quickly be able to tell whether the chicken was cooked inside or not, without bothering anyone.

Even better than a meat thermometer, I could have a laser infrared thermometer which is compact and lightweight, and they look pretty cool too.

They are easy to use, you simply need to aim, press the button and display the temperature of the item being measured. It won’t even need to touch our roast chicken, I will know the temperature of our food with a click of a button – what more could I ask for?

Decisions, decisions, which one should I go for? I know the time has come, and I need a food thermometer, but should I have a basic meat thermometer, or should I go for a cool infrared thermometer? Either way, hubby would be released from “checking food temperature” duties! Disclosure
