We are fans of Steak and Chips, but it has to be a nice piece of steak with crispy chips. When I heard of Tesco finest* re-launch, we were keen to try the new products from the range, marking the biggest change for Tesco premium brand since it launched 15 years ago.
You don’t have to be a master chef to conjure up delights in the kitchen, you just need two key ingredients – passion and great products. Which is exactly what Tesco discovered when developing their Tesco finest* range. The story of finest* starts with passionate people who have devoted decades to perfecting their products, passing on secrets and traditions through the generations. But you can’t teach passion, it’s something that comes from the heart, which is exactly where each and every one of these products originates.
When little man and I went shopping for our Tesco finest* products, I have noticed that they are now more visible in the shelves, you can clearly see where to find the range when walking down the aisles.
We picked Tesco finest* Beef Rump Steaks with Chilli and Garlic Butter, which is slowly matured for 28 days for exceptional succulence and taste. The steaks are seasoned with caramelised chilli flakes and sea salt, and they only took a few minutes to cook. We were all impressed with how tender and full of flavour they were. The rump steak was well seasoned and the garlic butter complemented it nicely.
We enjoyed our beef rump steaks with Tesco finest* British Chunky Oven Chips, light and fluffy chips made with Maris Piper potatoes, Tesco finest* British Petit Pois, which are picked and frozen in 120 minutes, grilled Tesco finest* Large Flat Forestiere Mushrooms, which have a subtly nutty flavour with a robust texture, and grilled Tesco finest* Sweet Antonio Tomatoes on the Vine, sweet and tasty.
As a side dish, we had a Tesco finest* Italian Provolone, Mozzarella and Pecorino Tear & Share Bread, it is hand finished and designed by skilled bakers with smooth extra virgin olive oil and garlic for a fuller flavour and a lovely crispy crust. It is hand topped with Italian mozzarella, provolone and pecorino cheese, fresh parsley and aromatic garlic roasted in sweet balsamic vinegar of Modena. It is mouth-watering and delicious!
After our wonderful meal, we enjoyed Tesco finest* Vanilla Origin Ice Cream Selection, with deliciously rich and sweet Madagascan vanilla ice cream, delicate with fruity floral notes Tahitian vanilla ice cream, and smooth with a slight smoky flavour Bourbon vanilla ice cream.
The single origin pots are designed to showcase the delicious, distinctive tastes of vanilla from different areas. Vanilla extract is blended with real dairy ice cream, which is lovingly made in small batches in South Devon. The ice cream was full of flavour and creamy, sweet ending to a great meal.
