Entertaining Kids During Half-Term: Arts and Crafts Essentials
We love spending quality time together during half-term and school holidays. We usually plan a mixture of indoor activities and family days out, however the weather doesn’t always collaborate. When this happens, we go to our arts and crafts box for some inspiration.
I am not sure what is happening with the weather lately, but it hasn’t stopped raining, which to us translates as a perfect day to spend indoors crafting! We usually have a range of craft supplies in case the weather suddenly changes or when we simply prefer to stay cosy in our PJs for the day.
Little man especially enjoys painting on canvas and creating some artwork for his bedroom. I have recently come across The Works, so I put together a list of his favourite arts and crafts essentials, together with suggestions on what to use them for.
Mini Canvas are great to create signs and hand prints, you will also need some brushes and paint. There are endless possibilities for creations, you can make a gift for a loved one or decorate your own house.
It is always handy to have a selection of craft items when you are not sure what to make. The bumper craft pack comes with foam shapes, pom poms, assorted sequins, lollipop sticks, pipe cleaners, coloured feathers and wiggle eyes – great for a range of creations, including sock puppets. If you need some ideas, grab some old socks and check out our how to make sock puppets post.
Another arts and crafts essential is coloured cards, ideal to get creative with. Instead of buying a card, little ones can make a personalised card for birthdays and special occasions. Not only will they have fun while creating their design, I’m sure the receiver will appreciate their effort.
Those are little man’s arts and crafts essentials, perfect to keep children entertained during half-term, weekends and after school. What is your little ones’ favourite arts and crafts item?
