Pure Butter Walkers Shortbread
Is it tea time yet? I think so as it is 5pm! I love a cup of tea, and tea calls for a biscuit or two (or maybe more!). When I came to the UK, one of the first biscuits that I tried was shortbread and from that day, over 10 years ago, I fell in love with the buttery flavour of shortbread.

I was sent a lovely package from Walkers Shortbread with a selection of their products. Established over 100 years ago, Walkers Shortbread has long been established as the world’s purveyors of luxury shortbread and the company today is still run by Joseph Walkers Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren who faithfully maintain the tradition of producing the finest shortbreads to the original recipes.
Until I received them, I had no idea that Walkers Shortbread are made of only 4 ingredients, flour, pure creamy butter, sugar and salt. They have no artificial colouring, flavouring or additives.

It’s amazing just what a simple pleasure shortbread can be and what comes as a surprise to many is the simplicity of the ingredients that make quite literally the best shortbread in the world. The brand is steeped in rich history and heritage and has become a well-loved and recognised brand worldwide.
Walkers Shortbread comes in a range of shape and sizes and I was sent Shortbread Fingers, thick and crisp fingers with a rich butter flavour, Petticoat Tails, large circular shape marked with segments, Shortbread Triangles, Shortbread Highlanders and Shortbread Rounds.

After reading about Walkers Shortbread, I found out that shortbread first originated in Scotland as a biscuit bread dessert, and much to my surprise, shortbread is not a cake or a biscuit, it is a unique confection! Now only I’ve tried lovely shortbreads, I’ve also learnt more about them.
Needless to say, I really enjoyed trying Walkers Shortbread, actually the whole family enjoyed the experience. Little man kept asking to try the different shapes to check whether they would taste different, and I had to join in for ‘research purposes’. Not only Walkers Shortbread looks so lovely, they are very tasty and perfect with a cup of tea!
